Bridge
Day Detours
NOTE:
This information is from last year's
festival (2003).
West
Virginia officials have yet to
release information regarding the
time scheduling of this year's
Bridge Day detours. We
well post it when available.
In lieu of current information, we
will supply last years information,
which follows
|
|
 |
|
Ansted Detour
Traffic on U.S. 19 will be rerouted west of the bridge
onto W.Va. 16 and U.S. 60. Tractor trailers are
prohibited on this 20-mile detour, which allows
passenger vehicles time for leisurely exploration. Along
the way you'll pass through scenic Hawks Nest State Park
and over the lower New River in "The Drys," a
popular rock-climbing area.
Charleston Detour
Tractor trailer traffic must avoid U.S. 19 altogether
and follow instead I-77 and I-79 through Charleston,
which adds 80 miles, or roughly one hour, to the
north-south trip.
