Driving to Bridge Day: From Major Cities

  • From Louisville, KY - I-64 west to U.S. 19 at North Beckley; travel north 17 miles.
  • From Richmond, VA - I-64 east to U.S. 19 at North Beckley; travel north 17 miles.
  • From Pittsburgh, PA - I-79 south to U.S. 19 at Sutton; travel south 40 miles.
  • From Charlotte, NC - I-77 north to U.S. 19 at North Beckley; travel north 17 miles

Bridge Day Detours Map

During Bridge Day 2003, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic. As a result, travelers who would normally use the bridge were obliged to follow one of two detours.
